Why should I try a class?

We welcomes students of all ages. Beginners through advanced students. Our students range from children with special needs and senior citizens, to high school,  home school and collegiate athletes.

Coach Myan has over 35 years of martial arts and fitness experience in several martial arts disciplines and was a National Collegiate Tae Kwon Do coach and competitor.  He is still actively competing in Judo and is a military veteran. 

​

We welcome and accommodates any student willing to commit and persevere, regardless of athletic ability.

How do I know what class is right for me?

We offer a variety of classes from adults only to family to children (ages 5 to 8). Class instruction is tailored to the students skill level. New students will receive 1:1 attention and show the basics so that they can be  gradually incorporated in to the full class.

 

Our instructors have a wealth of training and can adapt to your current abilities. New students that prefer full 1:1 lessons in a private setting before joining the full class or have further questions, please feel free to contact us at 443-406-2344.

How do I try a class?

See our class schedule to stop by and observe one of our classes or simply walk  walk-in, call ahead, or email at garudagymusa@gmail.com to schedule a free 30 minute 1:1 intro lesson.

 

Please wear comfortable workout clothing, bring water, towel, and flip flops with to your first class.  

Is this activity good for kids who are home schooled?

Absolutely! Martial arts are a great wat to exercise and learn a new skill. Plus your child will gain confidence, socialize, and be exposed to a foreign languages, and culture through our programs.

What should I know before class?

Gym etiquette: be a few minutes early ( 5 minutes early), be focused, be respectful to fellow students and instructors, train hard and enjoy!

​

Personal hygiene: no shoes on the mats, trim finger and toenails, have a clean uniform, cover open wounds,

and stay home if you aren't feeling

well.

​

What Should I Bring?

We have gear that you can borrow for your first class (Gloves, hand wraps, and Judo/ BJJ uniforms)

​

We also have new gear to purchase if your interested.

​

You can bring water, flip flops, and a towel to your first class.

​

We have a restroom and a changing room if you need to get dressed before class.

Do I have to spar?

Sparring is not required, but highly encouraged for students to learn how to apply the techniques in the real world.
